How To Play Water Sports


Ever lean all the way back on a titled sailboat and let your head run through the water while going 25 m.p.h. on a warm sunny day? If not, you're missing out on only example of life's greatest experiences - water sports.
For sailing, you don't need to be an expert. You can usually rent a sunfish for under $50 for the day. They're a small two-seater that keeps sailing simple. All you need to know is that you steer with the rudder and control the wind with the sail.

Maybe you're not the sailing type. How about water skiing? Just the thought of it freaks you out, right? If that's the case, don't worry. Everybody is freaked out before getting up on two skis for the first time. At first, you fall right away. Then, you fall right away again. Then, you last for two seconds. And so on. Until you're up on two skis. A few months after that you'll be jumping wakes and doing some basic tricks.
Are you more of the team-oriented type? If so, and you want to play one of the best water sports out there, find a water polo team. If you're town or city has an indoor pool, there might be a league. Just ask. And the best part about this sport is that you're constantly swimming, which has been determined by exercise physiologists as the healthiest sport on the planet. Great for your joints - all natural resistance. Great cardio, too.
Want to build up your arm strength without having to go to a gym? Try kayaking. Your arms are in constant motion and always acting against the water. There are several different levels of kayaking. If you're on the timid side, try a lake and enjoy the scenery. If you're a little more on the daring side, hit low class river rapids and go for one of the most amazing rides of your life.
Another growing and exciting sport is water basketball. Two hoops are placed on opposite ends of the dock and the game is on! The best part is that it's fair game. It doesn't matter if you can't dunk or dribble between your legs. This game is about teamwork, positioning, swimming and accuracy. Not to mention, your knees will last longer.
No matter what sport you choose, playing water sports always leads to a refreshing and invigorating sensation once you're through. I hope you choose to experience it.
