Typically, people who are shy are the way there if they are in a crowd where they do not really know anyone. Others can be shy because of their insecurities or their physical appearance. The important thing to do is to learn to love yourself so that you can be confident around other people.

Once you get through the first class, you just might have a good time meeting new people and learning new things. Acting classes not only teach you how to become a better actor. They also focus on other things, such as how to perform in front of many people and this will also be a chance for you practice spontaneity.
  3. Do volunteer work. If the thought of going to acting classes really scares you, you can start off with volunteering. Volunteering will put you out of your comfort zone as you will be going to a place where you do not know anyone but this is a good way to start as you already have something in common with the other volunteers. Not only will you be able to practice your people skills, you will also be of service for other people who need you.
  4. Smile at strangers. Smiling can go a long way. Practice smiling at other people who you pass by on the street, your co-workers who you do not know and even at random people. This will increase your confidence. Do not worry if you may look silly to them or if you do not get back a smile. Just practice doing this everyday and soon, you will learn how to talk to other people.
  5. Go out and socialize. The next time a friend invites you to go out and have a good time, your answer should be a big ‘Yes!’. Going out with your friends or in a group will help you get used to being in venues where you can meet a lot of people. This is also a good way for you to socialize with different types of people.
